Dearest Mary,
Received your letter today and was more that thrilled to hear from you, I went to a show tonight, the name of it was “Desperado”, a western, which wasn’t bad. Did you see it Mary, do you remember when we went to a show in L.A. and I held your hand? Those were the good old day, huh. ha,ha. You know Mary, when we did go out, we were only together for a few hours, truly I enjoyed every minute, and I do hope to enjoy an evening with you again Mary.
You spoke of not getting big checks Mary. It wouldn’t do us any good if we did, cause there isn’t any place to spend it. I’m trying to buy a bond a month, and I also took out $10,000 insurance, which cost us about $6.50a month, and the rest of our money is practically all saved. Gee I’ve never seen an Earl Caroll show I’ll be they’re really O.K. Can you dance Mary? If you can, we’ll have to there O.K.?
I’ll bet Dick is really having a time for himself, can’t say that I blame him thought 15 months is a long time, tell him I said hello.
So far Mary I have made gunner corporal in our gun crew. I guess in a couple of weeks we’ll be firing them that is surely going to be a thrill, especially when we fire our first round.
Gee kido, it seems that every time I get half way through a letter the lights are about to go out, so “little girl” I’ll close for now, and be good, and study hard. Say hello to your folks for me.
Love,
Bob
P.S. Hope you made out O.K. in that poker game.
