Fast Work

Camp McCain, Miss.

Dear Mary,

Well little girl how goes it? Received you letter, and sure thought it was swell of you to write even though you didn’t hear from me. Just got back from church so I thought I’d drop you a line. I finally got a day off usually I have detail on Sunday, but it looks like they gave me a break, although I probably have to go over to the colonel’s quarters and finish up that drawing of that B-24. When I get the chance, I’m going to ask him for a transfer to the Air Corp, so wish me luck kido.

The weather has been fine so far, it only rained twice last week usually it rains more often and we’re out in it.

Gee that’s swell that you’re getting two weeks’ vacation, it wouldn’t be hard for me to decide where I would head if I had two weeks. I would like to go to Catalina but there’s a little town called Compton that I’d head for, there’s a little girl I’d like to see there and is she ever nice, I wonder who? Ha ha!! I’d give anything to be there now, no lie.

Mary I had the top sergeant take my proofs into town for me, so I expect those pictures in a week or so. I’ll send them as soon as possible, O.K.?

I got a letter from my Mom yesterday and she told me that Hilda, that’s the girl I was engaged to got married, fast work don’t you think?! Mom also told me to send you a “big hello” so “Hello Mary”.

Well Mary I have to write to Mom now so I guess I’ll sign off, and take care of that cold.

Love,
Mom
P.S. Say hello to your folks for me.
